Computational Mathematics Researcher, Task Author (Remote, Contract, AI training) — AfterQuery via AI Gig Scout

AfterQuery is building a network of researchers to author and validate research-grade scientific-computing tasks for AI models, turning computational work from your own math research into paid evaluation tasks. It is listed at $100/hr: flexible independent-contractor work at $200 per approved task (about 2 hours each), with no cap on how many tasks you take on. Open to research-track Bachelor's students, Master's and PhD students, postdocs and recent graduates.

You will design original evaluation tasks from computational work you have actually run and debugged (a numerical solver, optimization routine, simulation, statistical model or validated algorithm), each with a main problem, connected subproblems, a Python reference solution and tests; specify the metrics a strong solution is judged by; revise tasks from review feedback; and optionally review other experts' tasks. Areas include numerical analysis, numerical linear algebra, differential equations, optimization and operations research, stochastic processes, computational statistics, discrete math and algorithms, computational geometry, topology and number theory, and inverse problems.

Requirements: research-track study or a degree in mathematics, applied mathematics, statistics or a closely related field; hands-on experience writing your own code, preferably Python, to implement or validate mathematical methods; the ability to work as an independent contractor without visa sponsorship (F-1 students, including OPT/CPT, are not eligible). All accepted experts undergo background and identity verification.
