Work Environment

This position is based onsite at our hospital facility located in Yonkers, which boasts a supportive atmosphere conducive to effective patient care. Our team environment fosters collaboration among healthcare professionals, including physical therapists, occupational therapists, and nursing staff. The clinic operates Monday through Friday, from 9 AM to 5 PM, allowing for a structured and predictable work schedule that supports work-life balance.

Key Responsibilities

• Assist licensed physical therapists in the development and implementation of individualized treatment plans for patients, ensuring that each plan aligns with the patient's specific goals and needs.
• Provide direct hands-on therapy to patients, utilizing various techniques such as therapeutic exercises, manual therapy, and modalities such as ultrasound or electrical stimulation.
• Educate patients and their families on relevant therapeutic exercises, daily living activities, and home care recommendations to enhance rehabilitation outcomes.
• Accurately monitor and document patient progress during therapy sessions using electronic health record systems, helping to evaluate treatment efficacy and adjust interventions as necessary.
• Collaborate effectively with interdisciplinary team members, including physicians and nurses, to ensure comprehensive and coordinated patient care for optimal rehabilitation outcomes.
• Apply trigger point therapy techniques when needed to relieve muscle tension and support patient comfort during rehabilitation.
• Participate actively in departmental meetings and case reviews, contributing insights on patient progress and therapy techniques to improve service delivery.

Patient Population / Client Focus

As a Physical Therapist Assistant at Muscleworks, you will work with a varied patient population, including adolescents, adults, and seniors recovering from orthopedic surgeries, injuries, and chronic pain conditions. Many patients come to us seeking rehabilitation for conditions such as post-operative recovery from joint replacements or repairs, sports injuries, and musculoskeletal disorders. Your empathetic approach will be essential in supporting their journey toward recovery, ensuring that they receive personalized attention and encouragement throughout their therapy sessions.

Qualifications

• Must possess an Associate of Applied Science (AAS) degree in Physical Therapy Assistant or a related field.
• Active Physical Therapist Assistant (PTA) state license.
• Demonstrable experience of at least 2 years in a clinical setting, providing hands-on therapy.
• In-depth knowledge of anatomy, physiology, and relevant medical terminology.
• Proficient in a variety of manual therapy techniques, demonstrating adaptability and skills in patient care.
• Ability to deliver care with genuine compassion, patience, and empathy, contributing to a supportive patient experience.

Preferred Experience

• A background in orthopedic rehabilitation is highly desirable, with specific experience in recovery post-surgery.
• Previous work experience in a hospital or clinic setting focusing on similar patient demographics.

Compensation and Benefits
