Our operating room (OR) department is one of the largest and most active OR departments in the state, with an experienced staff providing comprehensive surgical care to our patients. We are fully equipped with state-of-the-art technology and have dedicated teams of surgeons, anesthesiologists, nurses and other medical personnel who work together to deliver outstanding care. Our OR staff is committed to providing the highest quality patient care in a safe and comfortable environment.

OR Nurses provide sterility and safety for all surgical procedures. You must examine, take vital signs, verify allergies, and answer questions to prepare patients for surgery. You must also monitor each patient, record vital signs changes, and use sterile equipment during operation. After surgery, you must dispose of medical waste and disinfect the OR room before closing. You must ensure patient safety and satisfaction before, during, and after surgery. Your commitment to OR excellence distinguishes you from other nurses.
Also functions under the supervision of the surgeon during a surgical procedure and carries out functions that will assist the surgeon with optimal results for the patient.

Assists in moving and positioning patients for surgery. Assists the surgeon in draping of the patient.
Retracts tissue and exposes the operating field area during the operative procedure.
Clamps and ties vessels to control bleeding during surgical entry.
Keeps the operative site dry.
Affords the surgeon the best possible exposure of the anatomy incident to the operation.
Assists the surgeon in identifying any structure which should not be ligated and keeps these structures from the moves of the surgeon.
Assists in closure of the incision including tying off bleeders, applying sutures and wound dressing and performs any and all tasks required of him/her by the surgeon incident to the particular procedure.

Bachelors degree in nursing from an accredited school of nursing required
Graduate of an accredited Registered Nurse First Assist program required
Current Registered Nurse licensure in the State of New Hampshire required
RN First Assistant Certification (CRNFA) required
Certification Nurse, Operating Room (CNOR) certification required
