Job Summary
Assists the manager in the planning, directing, and coordination of outpatient lactation services at the Newborn Center. Functions as a resource for patients, families, team members, and the community.Bonus

Essential Functions

Assesses the physical and educational needs of the newborn and breastfeeding mother
Schedules and provides individualized one-on-one care to outpatient breastfeeding mothers.
Serves a liaison and coordinate care between the breastfeeding mother and/or the newborn's provider
Assists nursing leadership in implementing and evaluating quality initiatives for lactation
Develops, plans, implements, and leads breastfeeding education and hospital tours for expecting and breastfeeding families
Evaluates the quality of breastfeeding education provided
Collaborates with the inpatient lactation consultants to develop team member schedules that align with the evolving outpatient services needed
Provides education for the Family Birthplace and Family Beginnings team members as needed to align with the Baby-Friendly, USA guidelinesĀ
Manages and maintains the breast pump rentals and the retail environment for the Newborn CenterĀ
Serves as a liaison and support for the inpatient lactation consultants
Coordinates the day-to-day operations of The Newborn Care Center and collaborates with the Kidnetics team in managing room availability.
Performs other duties as assigned.

This is a non-management job that will report to a supervisor, manager, director or executive.
Minimum Requirements
Education - Associate degree in Nursing
Experience - Five (5) years Inpatient or outpatient lactation service/consultant

SC Registered Nurse
International Board-Certified Lactation Consultant (IBCLC) or Lactation Counselor Certification
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
Knowledge of the retail environment is preferred
