Job Summary
Provides direct patient care and services, education, and support to patients in the occupational health specialty practice setting. Functions as a clinical, community, and employer resource, educator, and consultant. Coordinates and provides care for patients based on detailed treatment protocols initiated by physicians without need of direct physician supervision.Essential Functions

Provides direct patient care to include assessment and evaluation of the injured worker. Evaluates effectiveness of care and makes changes after consultation with physician/nurse practitioner. Maintains an advanced knowledge base of workers' compensation laws and regulations specific to the medical specialty. Â
Provides DOT and non-DOT breath alcohol testing and urine drug screen collection for all national reference laboratories. Receives and maintains certification and expertise in DOT and non-DOT urine drug and breath alcohol testing including advanced knowledge of federal regulations.
Performs audiometric and spirometry testing as mandated by OSHA. Receives and maintains proficiency in audiometric and spirometry testing, including advanced knowledge of OSHA standards.
Performs phone triage accurately by involving providers when needed but uses critical thinking skills and advanced knowledge to handle the majority of concerns.
Frequently communicates with patients, employers, insurance carriers, case managers, and other medical providers to discuss testing results and evaluations and makes recommendations for appropriate care and follow up.
Triages current patient population and incoming referrals, prioritizes scheduling of office visits and testing.
Performs independent nursing assessments for new employees based on employer requirements. In addition, also provides and makes recommendations for adult immunizations for a wide variety of clients based on CDC guidelines.
Assists with in office procedures. Provides comfort and safety measures for patients before, during, and after the procedure.
Assumes responsibility for patient safety by maintaining a safe environment to include awareness of safety procedures, protocols, and adherence to patient care standards. Participates in environmental and infection control rounds to ensure safe environment.
Evaluates own nursing practice in relation to professional practice standards, guidelines, policies, procedures, state and federal regulations, and current specific knowledge. Maintains competency through education and professional activities. Reflects on identified areas of strength that offer opportunities for growth and improvement.
Performs other duties as assigned.
Supervisory/Management Responsibilities
This is a non-management job that will report to a supervisor, director or executive.
Minimum Requirements
Education - Associate degree in Nursing. Bachelor's degree in Nursing preferred
Experience - One (1) year Occupational Health setting preferred

Team members employed in this job prior to July 1, 2020, are grandfathered under prior educational and experience requirements. In addition, team members must be certification eligible and will have one year to obtain required certification(s).Â

South Carolina RN License - REGISTERED NURSE (Lawson Code NLRN)
Spirometry/Audiometric Certification at hire or within eighteen months (training provided)
DOT UDS Certification at hire or within six months (training provided)
DOT BAT Certification at hire or within twelve months (training provided)
COHN, CRRN, CCM or equivalent Certification - Preferred
